Bride

Well of course, Shanes favorite part of our love story is failing me as his student.

Although that is true, I will say my side of our love story...

Having spent so many summer days at the city pool as a child, I always looked up to the role of a lifeguard. The idea of having to be on your toes, jumping in the water to save a life, a first responder to emergencies, not really knowing when or how big of an emergency may occur on the pool deck. It always seemed like an exciting job and almost a hero in disguise, of course for the ones who take their job seriously.

After high school, I needed a job and took interest in the lifeguard position at the city pool. I signed up for the class, missed the first class, so the following year signed up again, passed the course, and became a lifeguard.
I was always intrigued by Shane’s delivery of teaching the lifeguard course. He always tried to pierce through each and every student, reminding them of how important of a role they would take on when they became a certified lifeguard at the conclusion of the course.

After six years of lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons, I was promoted to an Aquatic Coordinator. One of my duties at that time was to present the current lifeguard class with information promoting the open lifeguard positions through the City Rec and Parks Dept and how they can apply if interested. Not long after that, Shane contacted me and asked if I would be interested in taking his lifeguard instructor course in hopes that I would also assist him in teaching the future lifeguard classes, so I did! Shane was now my instructor once again, and I completed the course. At the end of that course, Shane and I began dating... and the rest is history!

There are many things that I love about Shane, but til this day, one of my favorite things is to watch Shane in front of a classroom teaching and I am honored to have taught right along-side him the last four in a half years. God really does work in mysterious ways and for him to align our paths the way He did, I know that Shane is meant to be my person, my life partner, and I cannot wait to marry him.

Groom

Pretty simple... Boy meets girl... Boy falls in love... boy asks girl to marry him...!

Okay! Okay! That is totally not the way it went down.

Shane's side of the story is this:

On the first day Priscilla and Shane met was at Allan Hancock College in Lompoc. Shane at the time was teaching a Lifeguard Academy to up and coming lifeguards. Priscilla did NOT know that the first day of the course was on a SUNDAY and missed the first day of the course. Therefore, on the day that this beautiful couple met for the first time, Shane failed Priscilla and forced her have to come back the following year to take the lifeguard course.

Of course Priscilla passed the course with flying colors. After the course, the couple went on their own way for a few more years before their roads would cross once again.

Wouldn't you know it... God had the perfect plan for these two. Again, they would cross paths at the pool in front of a lifeguard classroom. This time Priscilla was at the front of the class asking Shane's students to come to work for her at the pool. Later, Priscilla would ask Shane to put on a speical Lifeguard instructor class and of course Shane did. They would later connect more during that course. The last day of the class, would be the beginging of the real love story, because this is when Shane found true love.
