| Before the big day, Priscilla would like to introduce herself to the family and friends that have not had the opportunity to meet her in person. If anyone knows who Priscilla really is, the words that might describe her are: adventurous, spontaneous, daring, caring, fun, passionate, stubborn, argumentative, goal seeker, determined, educated, dog lover, and family oriented. Priscilla grew up in the same home until the day she moved out when she left for college. Growing up, her home was filled with family gatherings, the smell of moms cooking, the panting of their family dog, the warmth of God’s presence, the sound of dads drills and hammering, and laughter of siblings playing in the house. She was raised by two amazing parents, Richard and Deanna. Priscilla said her dad always taught her the worth of a dollar, never give up on your dreams, you will succeed in everything you put your mind to, how a man of the household should always provide and take care of their family, and always talked about how valuable and precious she was. Priscilla has a passion for caring for others. She said she gets this from her mother’s caring and loving heart. Her mother, a woman of great faith, a prayer warrior, a giver, and always caring for those in need, especially the old and those who are ill. Priscilla believes she got her imagination, creativity, and strength from her older brother Ritchie. Since they were close in age, they did everything together as a child and she followed him everywhere he went. Building forts out of couch pillows in the home, during summers they would spend on bike rides, swimming at the city pool, and sliding down the slip and slide in the front lawn. Ritchie would make her dress up in army attire and climb on top of the school roof tops, on a mission to not get caught by the janitors. She went to all his football practices, watched all his games, and she was his number one fan. Her childhood wouldn’t have been as great as it was, if it was not for her older brother Ritchie. When Priscilla was seven years old, her younger sister was born. Priscilla was a second mommy to her younger sister Desirae. She always wanted the best for Desirae and wanted to be that positive role model in her life. She always protected her, guided her through her studies in school, signed her up for all her classes when she reached college, and tried to be there for her as much as she could. Even though Desirae married before her to a soldier of our US Marines, and now lives in Japan, she will still always be her little sister.
Priscilla was always very involved in her church. A big passion of hers is to volunteer in her community and in third world countries. She has had the opportunity to be a part of medical missions trips, disaster relief teams, shelter feedings, and various roles within her church til this day. Priscilla also grew up playing sports and was an all-around athlete throughout her childhood and into high school. Some of her fondest memories growing up were all of the camping trips her and her family would take during the holidays and summers. If anyone knows Priscilla, they know she is always up for an adventure whether that is hiking, kayaking, skydiving, road tripping, camping, exercising, pretty much anything that calls for an adventure she will be there! After high school, Priscillas first job was a lifeguard. Ahhh, now you have made the connection!! Yes, Shane was Priscilla’s lifeguard instructor in 2008. At first, he was simply just that. While she was in college, she worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the next six years. She then became an Aquatic Coordinator for the City, got certified to assist Shane in teaching future lifeguard classes. It was then, Shane and Priscilla reconnected and began dating. Priscilla moved to Long Beach and attended University to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology, all while continuing her long distance relationship with Shane. She now works as a substitute teacher while continuing her education, attending a teaching credential program and pursuing a career as a Physical Education teacher. She works part-time at a high-risk facility in which she assists individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Shane and Priscilla share many things in common and have already had so many memorable adventures together in the last four years as a couple. She cannot wait for one of the biggest adventures yet, the day she said I DO to the love of her life, their wedding day! She is so happy that each and every one of you, will join them and witness the special moments on their special day!
